Zelensky Revealed What He Talked To Trump About For Two Hours

The Ukrainian president asked not to be questioned about the Tomahawks.

During a meeting at the White House closed to the press, the presidents of Ukraine and the United States talked about the supply of weapons, in particular long-range weapons. This Vladimir Zelensky said at a briefing in Washington.

"We talked about air defense, it is very important for us. As we're communicating right now, quite a few drones are being brought in for strikes in Ukraine. We will continue to talk, particularly about [weapons] production. The issue of these all the schedules, the timing aspects - these are all complicated issues. So our team will try to look at orders of different systems, from different countries. But the positive signal is that we will work," the Ukrainian president said.

According to Zelensky, part of the conversation with Trump was also devoted to "long-range systems" (probably an allusion to Tomahawk cruise missiles). However, he declined to disclose details.

"We decided that we would not [publicly] talk about it now. And the United States would not want an escalation, so possible questions on this topic will be left unanswered," Zelensky told reporters.

But journalists did try to ask a question about the Tomahawks. For example, one journalist asked Zelensky if he had become more or less optimistic about the supply of Tomahawk missiles after his meeting with Trump. "I am a realist," the Ukrainian leader replied briefly with a smile.

"The American side said that it understands that we need them. No one has closed this topic. We have to work on it more," Zelensky responded to a question about Tomahawks from another journalist.

The presidents also discussed Trump's announced meeting with Putin in Budapest.

"President [Trump] shared with me his dialog with the Russian side. So we understand all the signals from the Russian side. They are not new. We count on President Trump's pressure for the sake of ending this war," the Ukrainian leader said.
