Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky commented on the words of US leader Donald Trump about the need to stop the war, emphasizing that he is ready for any formats that can bring peace closer.

"For the sake of our countries and under such circumstances where we are now, I think we should stop where we are now, and Trump is right - it is important to stop this and then start talking," Zelensky said.

He explained that after the fighting stops, it is necessary to move on to negotiations between different groups and leaders to work out a long-term peace.

"I agree with Trump that both sides should stop, but the issue is Putin (Russian dictator Vladimir Putin - ed). We are not the ones who started this war," the president said.

Zelensky emphasized that he is "ready for any formats that can bring Ukraine closer to peace."
