Trump Authorizes Ukraine To Hand Over Intelligence For Strikes On Russia's Energy Industry

Tomahawk and Barracuda deliveries are also being considered.

The US will provide Ukraine with intelligence for missile strikes against Russia's energy infrastructure.

This is reported by The Wall Street Journal.

According to US officials, US President Donald Trump recently authorized intelligence agencies and the Pentagon to assist Kiev with strikes. In addition, U.S. officials are asking NATO allies to provide similar support.

Officials note that this is the first time the Trump administration will help Ukraine strike long-range missiles at energy facilities deep inside Russian territory.

WSJ added that although the US has a long history of helping Kiev conduct drone and missile attacks, the intelligence sharing will allow Ukraine to more effectively strike refineries, pipelines, power plants and other infrastructure.

And the targets in question are those far from Ukraine's border, and the goal of the strikes is to deprive the Kremlin of the revenue and oil that Russia needs to carry out the war.

According to another administration official, the United States is considering supplying Tomahawk and Barracuda, as well as other U.S. land- and air-based missiles with a range of about 800 kilometers. At the same time, a decision on what exactly to send has not yet been made.

The publication again added that the intelligence, combined with more powerful weapons, could have a much more powerful effect than Ukraine's previous strikes on Russia. They would cause great damage to Russia's energy industry.

One of the officials added that U.S. officials are waiting for written instructions from the White House before providing the necessary intelligence.
