The AFU commander-in-chief has reported to the Ukrainian president on the situation at the front.
The situation in Kupyansk remains difficult. But the Ukrainian defenders now have more control.
This is reported by Charter97.org with reference to the evening address of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.
The head of state said that he had a detailed conversation with the AFU Commander-in-Chief Alexander Syrsky and the AFU General Staff chief Andrei Gnatov about the situation on the front. They talked about all directions.
Zelensky said that the most difficult situation is observed in the Pokrovsky direction, where the highest intensity of hostilities remains. A large number of occupants are still concentrated there.
He specified that the Russians are trying to gain a foothold in the Pokrovsk direction by any means, and every Russian soldier killed there is a result for the whole Ukraine.
"The situation in Kupyansk remains difficult, but these days our forces have more control, we continue to defend our positions," the president pointed out.
He added that dozens of assaults were recorded in the Alexandrovsky direction over the day.
Zelensky said that he discussed in detail with Syrsky and Gnatov the planning of long-range operations. Now the only scenario remains forcing the Russian Federation to end the war. This can be ensured with the help of peace sanctions and Ukrainian long-range sanctions.
It is also important to restore Ukraine after Russian strikes and coordinate actions with partners, the president pointed out.
"And the main thing is to support our army, all components of the defense and security forces of Ukraine, because Ukraine is where Ukrainian positions are strong," he added.
