Trump: Israel Agreed To US-proposed Withdrawal Line

The president of the United States released the map.

Israel has agreed to an initial line of disengagement in the Gaza Strip. If Hamas agrees, the sides will begin exchanging hostages and arrestees.

U.S. President Donald Trump said this on Truth Social.

"After negotiations, Israel agreed to the initial line of withdrawal that the U.S. and mediators demonstrated and delivered to Hamas," the head of state said.

Trump added that once the Palestinian group confirmed its agreement, the ceasefire would immediately go into effect and the exchange of hostages and prisoners would begin.

"We will set the stage for the next phase of withdrawal, which will bring us closer to ending this 3,000-year catastrophe," the US president added.

Trump also unveiled a map of the proposed withdrawal in the Gaza Strip.

Trump's peace plan for the Gaza Strip

The Israel Defense Forces have been conducting a massive military operation in the Gaza Strip since Palestinian Hamas militants invaded, killing and capturing dozens of Israelis on October 7, 2023.

Israel and Hamas held several rounds of peace talks this spring. However, due to the protracted hostage exchange and other Palestinian intransigence, the IDF resumed fighting in the enclave.

Because of the prolonged freeze in negotiations, in September the Israeli army launched an offensive on Gaza City, which is the last Palestinian militant-controlled city in the region.

On Sept. 29, Trump unveiled a 20-point plan to end the conflict in Gaza.

According to it, Israel would gradually withdraw from Gaza, and after Hamas releases hostages and a new phase of negotiations begins.

On Oct. 4, the Israeli army suspended its offensive on Gaza at Trump's request.
