Uzbekistan To Lay Off More Than Two Thousand Officials After Introduction Of AI

The biggest cuts will affect the country's Tax Committee.

As a result of the introduction of artificial intelligence in Uzbekistan, more than 2,000 officials will be cut by November 1. The corresponding decree of the head of the republic Shavkat Mirziyoyev has been published in the national legislation database.

According to the document "On measures to optimize the number of managerial positions of the executive bodies of state power through the widespread introduction of digitalization", 2141 staff units will be cut in the executive branch.

The biggest cuts will affect the Tax Committee of the republic - 498 units, the Ministry of Water Resources - 224, the Ministry of Agriculture - 200, and the Ministry of Employment and Poverty Reduction - 200.
