German Chancellor Friedrich Merz discussed with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky the progress of peace talks, Zelensky wrote in his Telegram channel.

"Discussed the development of the situation and coordinated the next steps. Also touched upon the agenda of today's meeting of the coalition of the willing, where Germany will co-chair," he specified.

The Ukrainian president also expressed "gratitude that Ukraine can always count on Germany's leadership and support."

The FRG side also confirmed that Merz and Zelensky held telephone talks. "Following Sunday's meeting in Geneva, the chancellor and the Ukrainian president discussed the status of the negotiations on ending the war," the German government said in a statement.
