Civil servants made masks out of their photos.
Officials from Zhejiang province in China have figured out a way to skip work. This is reported by South China Morning Post.
Civil servants from the Wenzhou quarterly committee have started using paper-printed photos of colleagues' faces as masks. They put them on at the start of the workday to fool the facial recognition system that marks attendance at the workplace. This vulnerability in the system, officials found, allowed one person to mark the presence of several colleagues at work at once.
One such employee was caught cheating, thanks to surveillance cameras installed above a biometric-controlled terminal. The scandal came to light after a complaint from a man surnamed Lee, who reported the irregularities to higher authorities back in October. Authorities have promised to give an official response on the investigation by December 31.
