Trump Announced The Detention Of A "very Large" Tanker Off The Coast Of Venezuela

U.S. authorities have detained an oil tanker off the coast of Venezuela, two U.S. officials told Reuters. The sources said the U.S. Coast Guard was in charge of the operation. They did not specify the name of the tanker or the exact location of the interception.

U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed the operation, telling reporters that the military had just seized "a large tanker, very large, the largest tanker ever seized" off the coast of Venezuela.

The seizure came amid a build-up of United States military forces in the region. By mid-November, the number of US military personnel in the region had reached 15,000.

Before that, Trump said in an interview with Politico that the Venezuelan dictator's rule would soon end and Maduro's days were "numbered."
