Russia's Orel, Rostov And Taganrog Plunged Into Darkness After Missile Strike

Russians have lost light and heat.

On the night of December 19, a series of explosions occurred in the Russian city of Orel, Orel Region, followed by power and heat outages. Before that, a missile alert was declared in the region. Explosions are also heard in other regions of the Russian Federation, writes "Focus".

Missiles hit the Orel thermal power plant (TPP), which is the largest source of electricity and heat generation in the region. This was reported by monitoring channels.

The missile alert in Orel was declared at around 01:30 hours, after which a series of explosions occurred in the city. Local blogs reported that residents complained of light outages, and in some places the power supply disappeared completely.

Russians also claim that after the explosions, the pipes in the houses began to "hum heavily." The network showed footage of the night attack on Orel.

Russian media reports that eyewitnesses counted a total of about 5 strong explosions in Orel. They also recorded smoke and fire in one of the city's districts.

Russian authorities had not officially commented on the attacks on Orel at the time of publication.

It should be noted that the Orel CHPP provides about 40% of the Orel region's electricity needs and 65% of the heat needs of the city of Orel. The facility has been attacked before: in October, the Ukrainian Navy said, a Neptune missile hit the plant.

Attack on Russia on the night of December 19: where explosions are still being heard

Also at night, explosions were heard in the Russian city of Rostov, which has been under fire for the second day in a row, as well as the city of Taganrog in the Rostov region. Russian media reported that at least 10 explosions went off in Taganrog, with eyewitnesses seeing bright flashes in the sky and hearing the rumble of engines from drones flying over.

The network reported that in Rostov, part of the city was without power after the explosions.

Monitoring channels say Rostov was probably also attacked by missiles.

Local authorities have not officially commented on the strikes on Rostov and Taganrog.
