An unprecedented operation was carried out at a distance of more than 2 thousand kilometers from the territory of Ukraine.
The Security Service of Ukraine for the first time hit a tanker of Russia's "shadow fleet" in the neutral waters of the Mediterranean Sea.
Sources in the SBU told RBC-Ukraine.
Sources said the SBU conducted a new unprecedented special operation at a distance of more than 2,000 kilometers from the territory of Ukraine.
Following a multi-stage operation in the neutral waters of the Mediterranean Sea, the SBU's Alpha hit a tanker of Russia's so-called "shadow fleet" QENDIL with aerial drones.
It is noted that at the time of the special operation, the Russian ship was not carrying any cargo, but was empty. Accordingly, this attack did not pose any threat to the environmental situation in the region.
"Russia used this tanker to circumvent sanctions and make money that went to war against Ukraine. Therefore, from the point of view of international law and the laws and customs of war - this is a completely legitimate target for the SBU. The enemy must understand that Ukraine will not stop and will hit him in any parts of the world, wherever he is," the source stressed.
As a result of the attack, the tanker "QENDIL" was critically damaged and cannot be used for its intended purpose.
