A Boat With Putin's Relative And An Ex-head Of An Organized Crime Group Capsized In The Moscow Suburbs

There's a fatality.

One of the former leaders of the Solntsevskaya organized crime group, Viktor Averin, has died after a boat capsized at a yacht club in Mytishchi, telegram channels close to law enforcers said. Among the six people on board was the husband of Vladimir Putin's cousin and father of RusHydro CEO Viktor Khmarin Senior, the "Agency" writes.

Averin's possible death was first reported late Saturday night by the 112 Telegram channel. The post said that a boat carrying Averin and four other people had capsized at a yacht club in Mytishchi near Moscow. The same information was later published by Izvestia, citing an informed source.

Later, the Mash Telegram channel confirmed Averin's death, citing his wife, and specified that there were six people in the boat - five men and one woman. Five of them managed to get out of the water and on the airsleds reached the shore. The incident happened in the water area of the Admiral Yacht Club, Mash wrote.

In the afternoon on Sunday, Izvestia wrote that Khmarin was also in the boat. According to "112", Khmarin received hypothermia and bruises. The channel also specified that along with Averin and Khmarin on the boat were lawyer Viktor Perekatov, businessman Shamistan Aliyev, bodyguard Ivan Abramushin and 18-year-old model Ekaterina Leonova.

The "VCHK-OGPU" channel wrote that Averin and Khmarin went to inspect a plot of forest that Averin had recently bought. They left Moscow's Yacht Club Royal toward the village of Pestovo in an airboat called Sever. According to the channel's post, it was driven by the deceased. As writes "VChK-OGPU", the investigation considers two versions, and both look like an accident - either the boat turned around and caught on the ice, after which it overturned, or it skidded when going out on the ice, which then broke through.
