Steve Rosenberg exposed the deception.
A Russian propagandist interviewed a man before a direct line with Vladimir Putin. She claimed he was a well-known British journalist, BBC contributor Steve Rosenberg.
The presenter tried to demonstrate during Vladimir Putin's speech a lot of foreign journalists. "It was said that a lot of journalists, including foreign journalists, are accredited... Today we see here today also Steven Rosenberg. Now let's see, we also have wires, maybe we can get close," the Russian propagandist said as she approached some man.
"Steve, hello. Good afternoon. Tell me, please, what kind of a direct line is this already, what kind of press conference is Vladimir's?" - the journalist asked the stranger. To which he replied, "Not the first."
"Not the first. Steve had the opportunity to ask a question more than once," summarized the conversation with the unknown man, the Channel One employee.
But it turned out that it was a complete stranger. The real Steve Rosenberg later wrote on social network X that it was not him.
It turned out that the propagandists tried to pass Rosenberg off as a Z-warrior.
I didn't know I had a body double...Russian TV clearly thinks I do. At Vladimir Putin's press conference a reporter did a live interview with 'Steve Rosenberg' (but it wasn't me). pic.twitter.com/os0RIfFRc2
