In the town of Efremov in Russia's Tula region on the night of December 24, explosions erupted on the territory of OAO Efremov Synthetic Rubber Plant. Local residents report a series of detonations and a fire, writes New Voice.

According to eyewitness reports, at least 10 explosions were heard at the industrial facility before a blaze was seen over the plant. A video of the moment of the blasts has been published on the web - characteristic sounds of explosions can be heard in the footage.
Local emergency services have been dispatched to the area of the incident. The liquidation of the consequences continues.


According to the governor of the Tula region Dmitry Milyaev, there was a threat of drone strikes in the region over the past 24 hours. He warned of a possible attack as early as the evening of December 23.
Efremov Synthetic Rubber Plant is one of Russia's key producers of synthetic rubber and high-molecular-weight polyisobutylene, which are used in the chemical and defense industries. According to Russian sources, the plant has faced declining revenues and falling demand in recent years.
