As well as a number of activists.

The administration of U.S. President Donald Trump has imposed visa restrictions on former European Union Commissioner Thierry Breton as well as four European activists for trying to pressure U.S. tech companies to control political speech on their platforms. This was reported by Bloomberg.

"For too long, ideologues in Europe have coordinated efforts to force U.S. platforms to penalize the views of Americans with whom they disagree. The Trump administration no longer intends to tolerate these gross acts of extraterritorial censorship," U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on social media X.

He also emphasized that the United States is "ready and willing to expand this list" if other activists do not change their stance.

Besides Breton, activists and nonprofit organizations working to combat "digital hate speech" and counter extremism have also fallen under the U.S. State Department's restrictions. Among those named are Imran Ahmed of the Center for Countering Digital Hate, Claire Melford of the British organization Global Disinformation Index, and Anna-Lena von Godenberg and Josephine Ballon of the German organization HateAid, which works to identify far-right hate speech on the Internet.
