The Number Of Russian Generals Liquidated By The AFU Has Been Named

There's a real hunt going on.

Between 12 and 18 Russian generals have been liquidated during the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by Russian troops in February 2022. The Bild newspaper wrote about it on December 23.

The elimination of Lieutenant General Fanil Sarvarov, head of the Operational Training Department of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, in Moscow on December 22 was at least the 12th death of Russian generals, the publication notes.

On the front, Russian generals were eliminated mostly in 2022-2023, German journalists note.

The first general - Andriy Sukhovetsky (major general) - was eliminated by a sniper on February 28, 2022, during the battles for Gostomel, Kiev region (according to other versions, he was killed in Chernigov region).

"Ukrainian troops began to deliberately hunt for Russian generals, the location of which helped to identify Western satellites. In case of detection, they were hit with missile strikes. So, for example, Lieutenant General Oleg Tsokov was killed on July 11, 2023," the media outlet writes.

The publication recalls that some Russian generals were "eliminated" in the rear by Ukrainian security services using explosive devices. In particular, in April 2025, Yaroslav Moskalik, deputy head of the Main Operations Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Yaroslav Moskalik, died near Moscow in an explosion near the entranceway.
