Ukraine's president announced an imminent meeting with Trump.
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky will soon hold a meeting with US President Donald Trump regarding the peace plan.
The head of Ukraine said this in Telegram.
According to the Ukrainian president, the secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov reported to him about his regular contacts with the American side.
"We do not lose a single day. We have agreed to meet at the highest level - with President Trump in the near future. A lot of things can be decided before the new year," Zelensky said.
Yesterday, December 24, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky revealed for the first time the content of the 20 points of the peace plan.
The Ukrainian president confirmed that Kiev and Washington still have disagreements on territorial issues and control over the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant. Nevertheless, he characterized the talks as "significantly advanced."
According to Zelensky, Kiev is trying to persuade the US to offer a ceasefire along the current line of contact. At the same time, Russia, according to the Ukrainian leader, says it is ready to withdraw troops from a number of regions, but demands Ukraine's withdrawal from the territories it has occupied in Donetsk Region.
The Ukrainian president emphasized that giving up the territories is impossible because it contradicts the law and would require a referendum.
Zelensky said that if a ceasefire is reached, he is ready to hold presidential elections "as soon as possible." The truce, he said, would come into force on the day the agreement is signed and would be monitored by international mediators.
Ukraine also counts on accelerated EU integration, a large-scale reconstruction program, and an agreement with Russia to ensure the safety of river and maritime trade.
