Residents of the capital of Adygea were disturbed by a rumble.

Maikop, the capital of the Republic of Adygea (Russia), was turbulent on the night of December 25. As a result of the attack, powerful explosions erupted in the city near a military airfield.

In local publicks, Russians shared videos of rumbling sounds. This was reported by Telegram channel Supernova+.

"Maikop... locals report explosions in the area of the military airfield Khanskaya, v/h 55661 272nd training aviation base of the 2nd category," the report says.

In the published videos, a characteristic sound of a drone and explosions can be heard from locals.

What is known about Khanskaya airfield

Khanskaya is a military airfield in the Republic of Adygea, located 3 km east of the village of Khanskaya and 6 km northwest of Maikop. It is home to the 272nd Air Training Base Polotsk Air Base of the 2nd category of the Orders of Suvorov and Kutuzov, which is part of the Krasnodar Higher Military Aviation School of Pilots named after Hero of the Soviet Union A. K. Serov.

The basis of the aircraft fleet are L-39 training aircraft. The airfield belongs to the second class and is capable of receiving Tu-134, An-12, Il-18 and lighter aircraft, as well as helicopters of all types.

Before 2009 Khanskaya had the status of a co-located airfield and was also used for the needs of civil aviation.
