Thanks to two export deals.
Britain has claimed to have set a historic record for arms export sales for the entire time such statistics have been kept for more than 40 years, since 1983. According to the country's Ministry of Defense, Britain will export about 20 billion pounds worth of arms, or $27 billion, in 2025.
At the same time, analysts Defense Express note that the achievement of such figures is due to just two deals, providing for 90% of the amount.
So, in September, the UK signed a 10 billion pound (about $13.5 billion) deal with Norway for a minimum of five Type 26 frigates from BAE Systems to replace the Fridtjof Nansen-class frigates. Receipt of the first is expected at the 2029 level.
The second is a contract for Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jets for Turkey, awarded in October. The delivery period for the new fighter jets is from 2030.
At the same time, Defense Express experts note that although the British defense department in its statistics indicated that this contract will bring 8 billion pounds (about $10.7 billion) to the British economy, but in fact it is known that the real price of the contract to be performed by BAE Systems is 5.4 billion pounds ($7.2 billion). Specifically, the fighter jets themselves are worth 4.6 billion pounds ($6.13 billion), and another 800 million pounds ($1 billion) will go toward armament.
Another aviation contract with Turkey for the export of 12 C-130 transport aircraft worth more than 550 million pounds (about $742 million) is also reported, as well as an agreement with the Czech Republic to export 18 Jackal 3 light transports, worth about $44 million.
At the same time in the next years in London expect to conclude export contracts for an even larger amount, analysts say - in particular, through cooperation within the framework of the union AUKUS (Australia, Britain and the United States), which provides for the purchase of nuclear attack submarines SSN-AUKUS by Australia.
