"Grodnoazot" Provides The Russian Army With Raw Materials For Equipment

Since 2022, Russian companies have received more than 17 thousand tons of Belarusian polyamide yarns worth at least $48 million. They are used in Russia for the production of body armor, offloads, belts, and other elements of military ammunition. In addition, the supply of pure polyamide from February 2022 to mid-2024 is estimated at about 60 million dollars. Such data are cited by BRC journalists in their new investigation, reports "Euroradio".

According to the information they obtained from the internal documentation of the enterprises, the key supplier of polyamide raw materials for the Russian military-industrial complex was the Belarusian enterprise Grodnoazot OJSC, which includes the branch of the Khimvolokno Plant.

Despite the US and EU sanctions imposed in 2021 for laying off workers after protests and financing the regime, in 2022 Zavod Khimvolokno was actually the only foreign supplier of polyamide products to Russia among the EAEU countries. Even after the emergence of supplies from Armenia and Kazakhstan, Belarusian volumes remain dominant.

Russian customers include the Tver Research Institute of Synthetic Fiber, which is associated with military developments, and the Trud plant in Nizhny Novgorod, which works with the Russian Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Emergency Situations. In recent years alone, they have purchased dozens of tons of Belarusian raw materials.
