Work is underway to ensure that there is a minimum of non-agreed issues.
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has named clear "red lines" for Ukraine in peace talks ahead of the presidents' meeting in the United States. According to him, these are territorial issues, the nuclear power plant and security guarantees.
As RBC-Ukraine reports, Zelensky said this while answering journalists' questions.
Zelensky noted that work is underway to ensure that there is a minimum of non-agreed issues.
"Of course, there are "red lines" for Ukraine, and I am sure that there are compromise proposals of the Americans, we know them, well, and, probably, our enemy also has its own goals. All these issues are very sensitive. These are the territories and the ZNPP. You know my attitude - legally we will not recognize anything under any conditions. If there is a renewal of approaches, of course, before any decision we will communicate with the people," he said.
According to him, the question of discussion with the society: it is a referendum or certain legislative changes.
"But the most important thing is security guarantees. In addition to territorial issues, ZNPP, there are security guarantees, which are very important for us," he specified.
Whether Ukraine is close to a ceasefire and the end of the war
The Ukrainian president, while speaking to journalists, reminded that Ukraine did not start this war, Russia did.
"Second, Ukraine supported President Trump's proposal for a ceasefire. Third, Ukraine has made many different compromises and there's a fix for that in our agreements, in our working arrangements, in our 20-point plan. Ukraine is going for everything, anything that can stop this war. This shows that for us the number one priority or the only priority is to end the war," he said.
The Ukrainian leader called peace - Ukraine's priority and emphasized that "we need to be strong at the negotiating table. And to be strong, we need the support of the world, Europe and the United States of America."
"In this war, Russia's war against Ukraine, we want peace, and Russia demonstrates a desire to continue the war. And if the whole world, Europe and America, is on our side, we will all stop Putin together. Because all of us together will want one thing - the end of the war, normal peace, sustainable peace, safe for the whole world," he specified.
According to him, if the US or Europe are on Russia's side, it means that there will be a continuation of the war.
"There are no more options here. There is option A - ending the war as soon as possible, stopping Russia - or continuing the war. And that's the risk for every country in the world, because Russia will not stop, despite any treaties, despite any eloquent messeges they make. They will not stop in Ukraine," he added.
