"2025 Was The Year Of Europe's Final Awakening."

This was stated by the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga believes that 2025 was a defining year for Europe to "wake up" and finally change its vision of its responsibility for its own security.
He noted this in his year-end post.
Sibiga noted the "awakening of Europe" and the rethinking by European leadership elites of their role and responsibility for the continent's security and well-being.
"The awakening of European defense industries and politico-military circles began in previous years, but 2025 was truly pivotal and defining. Due to a number of factors, including the change in US policy, a new level of provocations and hybrid threats from the Russian Federation, systematic work with European governments," the Foreign Minister noted.
"The key decision was the raising of defense spending to 5% and the possibility of using these funds to support Ukraine in countering Russian aggression envisaged by the same decision of the NATO summit in The Hague.... Ukraine welcomes the work to increase Europe's independence, strategic autonomy and self-sufficiency," he added.
Sibiga noted that Ukraine "is already an integral part of this new power of Europe" thanks to the unique experience and technological innovations gained during the years of full-scale warfare.
