"Belarusians Felt The Hope Of Close Changes"

What will the past year be remembered for?

The website Charter97.org asked the blogger "Grey Cat" (Dmitry Kozlov) to summarize the passing year 2025:

- One of the main events of the passing year I consider the change of administration in the United States, the coming to power of Donald Trump, which led to significant changes in the world. And also, if we talk about Belarus, it is the release of several parties of political prisoners.

The twenty-fifth year gave Belarusians an opportunity to feel again the hope of close changes after several years that passed since the twentieth year, and when many people both in emigration and in Belarus itself were in not the most pleasant moral state. People were experiencing the failure of the revolution, trying to rethink what was happening, who was to blame, what to do next. Many people had no hope due to the fact that years go by, nothing changes, political prisoners are behind bars.

Now more and more people are beginning to express their point of view about what is happening, political prisoners have been released, a lot of different initiatives have appeared, which promise to realize themselves in 2025, and this may give hope to Belarusians for some possibility of liberation and revenge for the failure of the twentieth year.

If we talk about the heroes of the year - this Nikolai Statkevich, who made an extraordinary deed, as well as the Belarusians, who have not lost hope for change for so many years.
