In the Rostov region of the Russian Federation there was another accident on the railroad. A locomotive of a freight train went off the rails.

It is known about the delay of more than 20 trains. Details are reported by the independent Russian publication ASTRA.

The locomotive derailed around 03:35 a.m. local time at the Kiziterinka - Protochnaya crossing of the North Caucasus Railway.

The incident temporarily paralyzed traffic through the mentioned section.

"As a result of the derailment, 20 long-distance trains and five suburban trains were delayed for up to four hours," the North Caucasus Railway said.

What caused the incident has not been officially reported, but officials said a check has been launched.

"The causes and circumstances are being established.... The prosecutor's office is conducting an inspection of the implementation of legislation on the safety of movement and operation of railway transport, following the results of which it will consider the need to take response measures," the Southern Transport Prosecutor's Office said.

The office also said there were "no casualties" and that "restoration work is being carried out" and "there are delays in train traffic."
