"This is the most robust set of security protocols they've ever seen. It's a very, very powerful package," a senior U.S. official emphasized, without specifying what exactly the U.S. is promising.

Another official said Trump is ready to submit the U.S.-backed security guarantees to Congress for review. He called the package the "platinum standard" of what Washington can offer Kiev.

It is noted that the US president believes he will be able to convince Russia to accept the guarantees.
