Lessons learned from the war were integrated into the script.
Ukrainian experts of the NATO-Ukraine Joint Analysis, Training and Education Center (JATEC) for the first time directly participated in the practice of Article 5 mechanisms of the North Atlantic Treaty within the framework of the large-scale exercise Loyal Dolos 2025. This was reported in the General Staff of the AFU.
The exercise was the main event of the NATO training program this year. They involved about 1,500 military and civilian personnel in various locations across Europe. The main objective was to assess the combat capabilities of one of NATO's Rapid Deployment Corps as the Alliance's key military unit.
To prepare the Alliance's military to fight in a rapidly changing environment, lessons learned from Russia's war against Ukraine were integrated into the exercise scenario. This is the first time Ukrainian experts have been directly involved in a NATO exercise of this type.
Ukraine's Senior National Representative to JATEC, Colonel Valeriy Vishnevsky, noted that the involvement of Ukrainian experts in an Article 5 exercise is of fundamental importance. In his words, it demonstrates Ukraine's recognition by the North Atlantic Council as one of the most experienced participants in the regional security system.
