Kazakhstan Proposed To Restrict Nazarbayev's Exit From The Country

According to Kazakh Majilis deputy Yermurat Bapi, such trips may pose risks to national security. He proposed to introduce restrictions for former high-ranking officials who have access to state secrets - including Nursultan Nazarbayev.

Bapi also criticized the former president of the country.

"I feel sorry for the man who did not find support in his country, in his people. Now he has to look outside the country for support. This is a tragedy for the ex-president," the deputy said, as quoted by the Orda.

The meeting between Putin and Nazarbayev took place in Moscow on Saturday. According to the former Kazakh president's spokesman, the visit was of a personal nature. A spokesman for the former head of state denied reports that Nazarbayev had left Kazakhstan and was living in another country. Earlier, some media reported allegedly about his departure to Turkey.
