The Ukrainian president handed his American counterpart papers with the amount Kiev needs.
President Volodymyr Zelensky said that U.S. President Donald Trump promised him help with air defense equipment after being briefed on the situation in Ukraine.
As "European Pravda", Zelensky said this while answering online questions from journalists on Tuesday.
The head of state said that at the meeting with Trump they discussed strengthening Ukrainian air defense.
"We had a separate second block with President Trump - that I really need air defense. I really need NASAMS missiles. I really need PAC-3 missiles for the Petriots. And I don't want to say what our situation is now publicly, but I showed, demonstrated it to the American side," Zelensky said.
The head of state said that "President Trump said that he would help me."
"I am grateful to him for this. The relevant papers with the quantities we need and how - I handed it all over. Separately, I said that we are ready to buy it all through the PURL program. And here I want to thank the Europeans for filling this program. And we have the ability to buy air defense. I only asked the President, if you can, to help us. The sooner the better," Zelensky said.
He added that such support is needed despite diplomatic efforts to end the war, as Russia does not stop its strikes.
