To discuss the peace plan.
On Thursday, December 4, Trump's special envoy Steve Whitkoff and U.S. President Donald Trump's son-in-law will meet with National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov in Miami. They will continue to discuss a peace deal.
Associated Press reports Associated Press.
"According to a senior Trump administration official... Whitkoff and Kushner will meet with Ukraine's chief negotiator, Rustem Umerov, on Thursday for further talks," the publication wrote.
The AP added that it is not yet clear what the outcome of the talks will be. Their further course depends largely on what the Trump administration decides - to increase pressure on Russia or on Ukraine to make concessions.
US Peace Plan
Reminder, in November, the United States presented Ukraine with a new peace plan to end the war. The document consisted of 28 points, but was clearly too much in favor of Russia.
For this reason, on November 23 and 30, a meeting was held in Geneva and Miami between US and Ukrainian delegations to finalize the document and make it more favorable to Kiev.
Already on Tuesday, December 2, Whitkoff and Kushner arrived in Moscow to meet with Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin to discuss the finalized U.S. peace plan.
After the meeting, Putin's aide Yuri Ushakov said that compromises have not yet been found, but the sides will continue to work. He also said that in addition to this peace plan, Washington had handed Moscow four other documents on ending the war.
The wording was taken to mean that Putin rejected the US peace plan. But Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskov claimed on Dec. 3 that this was allegedly not the case.
By the way, according to Reuters, Whitkoff and Kushner reported to Trump on a "productive" meeting with Putin. Details are not particularly available yet, but Trump told the press a few hours ago that the meeting was pretty good, and the special envoy and son-in-law got the impression that Putin wants to end the war.
On Wednesday evening, December 3, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky announced that a Ukrainian delegation was preparing for a meeting in the United States.
According to him, there is constant contact between all partners, as well as partners and Ukraine.
"Everything is happening quite effectively now - at the meetings in Geneva and in Florida Ukraine was heard and Ukraine was listened to. And this is important. We hope that this will continue to be the case in the future. Only with Ukraine's interests taken into account, a decent peace is possible," Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized.
He added that now the world definitely feels that there is a possibility to end the war, so the activity in the negotiations should be backed up by pressure on the Russian Federation.
