The US president was intrigued by the content of his phone call with Venezuela's ruler.
U.S. President Donald Trump says he told Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro "a couple things" during a phone call with him. The comment came amid alleged efforts to remove the Venezuelan leader from office and exile him to another country.
The White House reported the comment.
In particular, a reporter asked whether Trump had contacted Maduro again and whether his "pressure campaign" against the Venezuelan leader was working. In response, the president said the following:
"You tell me. Is it working? It's not a pressure campaign. It's, I think, much more than that. But I talked to him briefly. Just told him a couple things. We'll see what happens," Trump said.
He also once again said Venezuela is sending drugs to the U.S. and sending people it shouldn't be sending.
"They sent us ... they emptied their prisons by sending people to our country," the White House chief summarized.
