Moldova, EU And USA Develop A Plan For Transnistrian Reintegration

The Moldovan government, together with the European Union and the United States, is developing a plan to reintegrate the country - returning the self-proclaimed Transnistria under the de facto control of Chisinau. As Newsmaker reports, this was announced by Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Valeriu Kiver after a government meeting.

He said some of the issues "remain sensitive" and require caution, while some processes "need time."

"We are indeed actively working on a reintegration strategy or roadmap, but as you know, sensitive issues require caution. We need to think through the steps that will subsequently yield results. We can't talk about all the actions in real time because that might hurt the final outcome. The work is ongoing and at the appropriate moment we will present the results to the public," Keever said.

The Transnistrian region has existed as an unrecognized state under Russian control since the early 1990s. Strikes against Ukraine have also been launched from its territory.
