US President Donald Trump held a meeting with the author of the bill on new sanctions against Russia Senator Lindsey Graham. This is reported by the White House press service.

The meeting was held in the Oval Office in the presence of Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Graham is known for his hardline anti-Russian stance and has previously introduced a bill to impose 500% duties on goods from countries that buy Russian energy.

In November, Trump confirmed his willingness to support a bill by US Senators Lindsey Graham and Richard Blumenthal to impose "very tough" measures on states that continue to do business with Russia. The US President believes that the sanctions package should become an instrument of pressure on Moscow and its foreign trade partners.
