Ex-political Prisoner Igor Losik Told How A Man Was Killed In Barysau TDF
Igor Losik

He was beaten to death in the "press hut".

Former political prisoner and blogger Igor Losik told in his Telegram channel about the murder of a 59-year-old man in Barysau temporary detention center. According to him, the incident occurred a few days before the so-called presidential election on January 26, 2025.

Losik claims that the man was beaten to death by two other prisoners, who were involved in extracting confessions in the so-called "press-hut" - a cell where those who refuse to sign the documents required by the investigation are placed. According to him, prisoners were given template confessions in advance, and refusal led to beatings until the person agreed to sign.

He notes that he did not believe in the existence of such practices until he met people who had gone through it. Among them is Egor B., an inmate convicted of marijuana possession. He was beaten so severely, Losik said, that he was initially refused admission to a detention center. They beat out of him not only a confession, but also a call to his mother asking her to transfer money to one of his attackers. The lawyer, according to Losik, said that complaints would not change anything and could only lead to problems.

Losik claims that one of the "presshatchers" was a man of Azerbaijani origin, with whom he later found out he had studied at the same school. This man, according to him, was related to Vyacheslav Sh., who had previously been convicted of murder in a TDF cell.

Losik says that the "presshatchers" were kept in special conditions and actually felt in the cell as if they were at work: they were allegedly brought food, alcohol, and sometimes even brought women. According to Losik, they received a reward for each "beaten" confession, and their activities were "covered up" by the employees of the State Department for the Prevention of Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment and the management of the detention center. The necessary recordings from the surveillance cameras, according to Losik, could be deleted.

A few days before the election, a 59-year-old man was placed in a cell, who, according to Losik, died after being beaten. He was beaten with hands, feet and a water bottle, and the attackers were highly intoxicated. After the incident, according to Losik, Interior Minister Ivan Kubrakov came to the TDF. Part of the management of the isolation center was dismissed, and some employees were detained. At the KGB, two "presshatchiks" allegedly admitted that similar schemes were operating in more than one locality, and investigators traveled to different regions for additional testimony.

Losik notes that if the information were confirmed, many criminal cases would have to be reconsidered, as confessions could have been obtained by force. Whether such steps have been taken is not known, he does not say.
