Umerov and Gnatov spent two days communicating with Whitkoff and Kushner.

Over the course of two days, U.S. Presidential Special Envoy for Peace Steven Whitkoff and Jared Kushner had a meeting with Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Rustem Umerov and Chief of General Staff of the AFU General Andrei Gnatov. This was reported by Umerov himself.

He said it focused on promoting a realistic and workable way to achieve a lasting and just peace in Ukraine.

"Held the sixth meeting of the parties in the past two weeks. Confirmed that Ukraine's priority is a settlement that guarantees the protection of Ukraine's independence and state sovereignty, the security of Ukrainians and forms a stable basis for a successful democratic future," he said.

Umerov claimed that the participants discussed the results of the recent meeting between the US side and Russia and steps that could lead to the end of the war. The SNBO Secretary added:

"The American and Ukrainian sides also agreed on a framework of security arrangements and discussed the necessary deterrents to ensure sustainable peace. Both sides emphasized that real progress on any agreements depends on Russia's willingness to demonstrate a real commitment to long-term peace - in particular, to take steps toward de-escalation and an end to the killing."

He emphasized that the U.S. and Ukrainian sides noted that an end to the war and real steps toward a ceasefire and de-escalation are necessary to prevent new aggression and to ensure the implementation of a comprehensive plan for Ukraine's reconstruction.
