Ukraine's ambassador to the U.S. revealed the details.
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky had a two-hour conversation today with Trump advisers Steve Whitkoff and Jared Kushner. The sides discussed the territorial issue and security guarantees.
According to Axios.
According to a source familiar with the content of the phone call, the discussion of the territorial issue was complicated.
As is well known, Russia is still demanding that Ukraine withdraw its troops from Donbass as part of its peace plan. But the US, a second source said, is trying to develop new ideas to solve the problem.
The second key issue was US security guarantees for Ukraine. One source said the sides had made significant progress and were close to a deal. But there is still more work to be done to ensure that both sides interpret the draft security guarantees in the same way.
"The main difficult issues are the territorial issues and security guarantees. We seek to ensure that the agreed solutions are realistic, fair and sustainable," Ukraine's ambassador to the United States, Olga Stefanyshina, told the publication.
SNSD Secretary Rustem Umerov and AFU Chief of General Staff Andrey Gnatov are now expected to return to Europe from Miami and brief Zelensky in London on Monday to discuss the U.S. proposals.
"We need to take all the drafts and brainstorm," an unnamed Ukrainian official told Axios.
Further talks and meetings with Whitkoff and Kushner are expected later this week (probably meaning next week).
"Negotiations will be laid out and face-to-face meetings are crucial," Stefanyshina said.
