So they won't transfer money to their relatives.
Russian banks have started blocking money transfers and accounts of participants in the war against Ukraine, servicemen at the front told ura.ru.
‘My guys and I are now having problems with access to the banks' applications. My transfers were blocked in two of them at once. They write that it is suspicious actions. Apparently, because I am physically on the territory of Ukraine,’ said one of the military.
According to him, it is impossible to unblock the account over the phone, as the banks require a personal visit to the nearest branch. Even the lawyer who had the general power of attorney could not solve the problem - the branches of credit organisations refused to accept the document. ‘Honestly, we are already tired of this. I can't send money home,’ the serviceman noted. He did not specify which financial organisations he was referring to, but stressed that many people on the front line had faced this problem. The banks have not commented on the situation yet.
Before that, one of the credit organisations withdrew all the money from the salary card of a war veteran from Turinsk, Sverdlovsk region, in payment for the unpaid loans. In November last year, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law that obliges banks to write off debts of up to 10 million rubles to Russians if they were mobilised, drafted to the front or signed a contract with the Russian Ministry of Defence. After contacting the bank, the serviceman was offered to come to the branch himself. The State Duma took up the case and asked Central Bank Chairman Elvira Nabiullina to check the legality of the bank's actions. MP Maksim Ivanov claimed that part of the debited amount was returned to the serviceman's card.
Earlier, the participants of the war began to receive calls from fraudsters. They introduced themselves as members of the military unit command and said that the servicemen were entitled to additional payments. However, there are difficulties with the transfer of money. In order to receive the payments, they offered to transfer funds from bank cards, which could be blocked, to a ‘safe account’. After the operation was completed, the fraudsters ended the call and disappeared.
