Baku is on a collision course with Moscow.
Some Azerbaijani media outlets have published news about the "exposure of a group representing Moscow's interests."
According to local media, this structure was headed by former head of the presidential administration Ramiz Mehdiyev, known as the "gray cardinal."
The group also included former ministers Abulfas Garayev, Azad Rahimov, and Elmar Mammadyarov.
In addition, former Minister of National Security Eldar Makhmudov was present at the group's meetings from time to time.
Recall that on February 3, 2025, Baku sent a note to Moscow about the termination of the activities of the "Russian House." This was reported by the country's Foreign Ministry.
The department claims that the "Russian House" - the representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo in Azerbaijan - is not registered as a legal entity, and the organization "seriously violated the legislation" of the country.
Later, the Kremlin confirmed the closure of the Russian House in Baku.
