It has become known what he is suspected of.
Pro-Russian presidential candidate in Romania Kelin Georgescu was banned from leaving the country in cases of suspicion of committing a number of crimes.
This is reported by Realitatea.
According to the publication, a criminal case has been opened against Georgescu because he is suspected of:
incitement to acts against the constitutional order;
spreading false information;
initiating or establishing an organisation of a fascist, racist or xenophobic nature;
publicly assisting perpetrators of genocide crimes against humanity and war crimes;
initiating or establishing an anti-Semitic organisation, joining such an organisation or supporting it in any form.
Against this background, the Romanian Prosecutor General's Office took the presidential candidate under judicial control for 60 days.
According to the publication, the most serious charge is incitement to actions against the constitutional order. Because of this, Georgescu is forbidden to speak in the media, create accounts on social networks, carry weapons and leave the country.
Earlier it was reported that Georgescu was detained and taken for questioning to the Prosecutor General's Office. According to Digi24, his security guard Marin Burcea was also detained by police and taken for questioning.
