Russian Media Report How Blasting Of Terrorist Leader In Moscow Was Prepared
ARMEN SARKISYAN

The explosive device was planted in a sofa.

The explosive device in the Alye Parusa residential complex in Moscow was detonated remotely, a source in the Russian security agencies told TASS. This happened when the “head” of the DPR boxing federation, the founder of the terrorist battalion “Arbat”, a crime boss close to the fugitive Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych, Armen Sarkisyan, went down to the lobby of the entrance, the RTVI website writes.

According to the TASS source, the explosive device was previously planted in a sofa in the lobby of the entrance. When Sarkisyan went down to the first floor, the attackers detonated it. Experts estimated the power of the explosion at 400-500 grams of TNT equivalent, Kommersant writes.

Unknown persons could have been watching the head of the terrorist battalion “from aside,” a TASS source suggested.

“It is obvious that the explosion was prepared in advance; law enforcement agencies are currently studying the recordings from surveillance cameras,” a source told RBC.

Several people were involved in preparing the assassination attempt on Sarkisyan, and each role was assigned in advance, TASS writes, citing law enforcement agencies. “There were people, including those involved in surveillance, and the actual perpetrators of the explosion,” the agency's source clarified.

According to the Shot Telegram channel, there could have been two perpetrators. According to the channel, one of them was spying on Armen Sarkisyan, while the other was developing the assassination plan and making the explosive device.

“The suspects have been sent to all services in Moscow and the Moscow region. According to our information, airport and train station employees have also been notified,” Shot writes.

It should be noted that Russian media reported that there may be a “Chechen trace” in the case of the blowing up of Sarkisyan.
