The gifted student spent almost four years behind bars.

Artsiom Bayarski, a student of BSU Chemistry Department, has been released. He was released on 20 January 2025 by pardon after spending almost four years behind bars.

In 2021, the 20-year-old political prisoner was enrolled in Kaunas University Vitauts Veliky on the ‘Biotechnology’ bachelor's programme.

It was reported that he would be able to continue his studies in his speciality once he was released.

Artsiom Bayarski was a second-year student at the BSU Faculty of Chemistry; he was a four-time recipient of the President's Special Fund to Support Gifted Youth thanks to his victories in subject Olympiads. The first time he was detained in autumn 2020 and imprisoned for 14 days for participating in the protest.
