Kyiv will not agree to reject joining NATO.
At a meeting in Jeddah, Ukraine, among other things, assured the American side that it would not agree to give up NATO membership as part of a possible ‘peace agreement.’
This was explained to ‘European Truth’ by a source involved in the negotiations.
The interlocutor of the publication noted that the meeting did not envisage negotiating their standpoint regarding the big agreement, however, the Ukrainian side informed the American partners about their ‘red lines’.
‘We also talked through the NATO issue, and we clearly said that it cannot be taken off the agenda for Ukraine,’ he explained.
The EP interlocutor also explained that other key positions of future negotiations for Ukraine were also spoken about during the talks.
‘There are red lines for Ukraine - in particular, that there can be no restrictions on the size of the army, and there can be no prohibitions regarding Ukraine's participation [in international organisations], including the EU and NATO. The issue of [the red line on] NATO was also voiced by Yermak, that Russia must not have the right of veto,’ he said.
