Former Political Prisoner From Lida Dies Several Months After Release

Valiantsin Ivanouski was 48 years old.

Human rights activists learned about the death of former political prisoner, Lida resident Valiantsin Ivanouski. According to Dissidentby, the man died three months after his release.

Valiantsin Ivanouski was a resident of Lida, detained in July 2022 under Part 1 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code (Insulting Lukashenka). Following the trial, he was sentenced to two years in prison. The man served his sentence in a penal colony in Navapolatsk (IK-1).

In May 2024, Valiantsin Ivanouski was released, but three months later he was gone — the man died in August of the same year. This became known only now.

The cause of death is unknown. Valiantsin Ivanouski was 48 years old.
