This is reported by the President of the country Volodymyr Zelensky.
The Ukrainian Air Force has received a new batch of F-16 fighter jets.
According to RBC-Ukraine correspondent, this was announced by President Volodymyr Zelensky during a Zoom briefing for journalists.
‘Additional F-16s have flown into Ukraine. The Russians are lying that they have shot down something, they have not shot down anything. And the good news is that several F-16s have flown into Ukraine,’ Zelensky said.
What Preceded
Yesterday, a number of Russian media outlets began claiming that an F-16 had been shot down in Sumy region. However, according to Yuriy Ignat, head of the communications department of the AFU Air Force Command, such statements by the Russians are just another propaganda.
‘F-pilots once again successfully worked against the Rashists today. And that's how it is every day, the combat work continues,’ Ignat emphasised.
F-16 for Ukraine
In 2023, Ukraine and its allies created an aviation coalition aimed at transferring F-16 combat planes to Ukraine. According to President Volodymyr Zelensky, Ukraine needs a minimum of 128 F-16 fighter jets.
The first F-16 fighter jets from the partners arrived in Ukraine in 2024. It is not known exactly how many planes Ukraine received. The Netherlands and Denmark handed over the first F-16s to Ukraine.
It is known that Belgium will transfer 30 fighter jets to Ukraine by the end of 2028.
Now Ukrainian pilots continue training on the F-16s. The training is taking place in several countries, particularly in the USA.
