Reports indicate evacuations in nearby settlements.
Everything suggests that the drone strike on Russia’s Engels Airbase on March 20 targeted a storage facility containing Kh-555 and Kh-101 cruise missiles for Tu-95 and Tu-160 bombers. Defense Express reports this, citing videos from the scene capturing powerful secondary detonations of munitions.

According to the publication, Russian authorities confirmed the explosions, and OSINT communities managed to geolocate the blast site. Some sources pointed to an ammunition depot, while others identified a fuel storage facility.
"The video captures continued detonations of small arms ammunition, likely for aircraft weaponry. This indicates the destruction of a munitions depot rather than a fuel storage site. Another video shows explosive detonations, which are not typical of burning fuel tanks. All signs point to a blast at an aviation ordnance storage site for strategic bombers," the report states.
Russian social media channels report that ammunition has been detonating for several hours. Local sources claim the village of Malinki has been evacuated, and preparations for the evacuation of Bazalt are underway.
