Starmer Preparing Measures To Prevent Putin From Breaking Ukraine Peace Deal
KIER STARMER

Britain and its allies are shifting from the political momentum to a military one.

Russian President Vladimir Putin will break the peace agreement with Ukraine if the country is not protected.

This was stated by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, reports BBC.

According to the head of the British government, any agreement on cessation of hostilities between Russia and Ukraine will be ‘lasting’ only if there are ‘security arrangements’.

‘The security arrangements will make it clear to Russia that there will be serious consequences if it breaks any agreement,’ Starmer said after a meeting of top military leaders in London.

The prime minister also said Britain and its allies were moving from the ‘political impetus’ to ‘military planning’, which he said ‘must be done now’ - before the agreement is finalised.

‘It's vital that we do this work because we know one thing for sure: an agreement with nothing behind it is something Putin will break. We know that because it's happened before. I am absolutely certain it will happen again,’ the prime minister said.

A closed-door meeting of military chiefs from 20 countries was held at the Joint Chiefs of Staff in London. During the meeting, those present discussed proposals to deploy troops to Ukraine to ensure security as part of any peace agreement with Russian Federation.

Following the meeting, Starmer told reporters that the talks in London were focused on how to ‘keep Ukraine's skies, seas and borders safe.’

Recently, Starmer announced his intention to form the so-called ‘Coalition of the Willing’ under the UK presidency. The task of its members would be to organise mechanisms to protect the peace agreement and ensure peace in Ukraine.
