The air harbour will not work for the rest of the day.
On the night of 21 March, London Heathrow Airport (UK) introduced a ban on flights due to a severe fire that broke out at an electrical substation. The air harbour will not work until the end of the day.
Sky News reports that.
The London Fire Brigade said that 70 firefighters and 10 fire engines are involved in eliminating the fire emergency at the power substation on Nestles Avenue in Hayes.
The London Fire Brigade said a transformer at the substation caught fire, but they do not yet know how the fire started.
Assistant Commissioner Pat Goulbourne said firefighters were ‘working in difficult conditions to bring the fire under control as quickly as possible’.
‘The fire has caused a power outage affecting a large number of homes and local businesses and we are working closely with our partners to minimise disruption,’ he revealed.

It is also noted that firefighters are carrying out evacuations among residents of homes that are close to the fire (around 150 people have already been evacuated). A 200-metre cordon has also been set up for the safety of citizens.

The fire caused power outages in the area.
According to a representative of Heathrow Airport, the incident significantly affected the power supply at the airport, there were blackouts. As a consequence, and ‘to ensure the safety of our passengers and colleagues, we have no option but to close Heathrow until 23:59 on 21 March 2025’.

‘We expect significant disruption over the coming days and passengers should not travel to the airport under any circumstances until the airport reopens,’ Heathrow officials added.
According to the Flightradar24 flight tracking website, at least 120 flights that are already in the air and heading to Heathrow will have to be diverted.
We would like to add that in addition to the problems at Heathrow, SSEN said that about 16 thousand houses are de-energised in some areas around the airport in the west of London.
We remind you, Heathrow Airport (London Heathrow Airport) is considered the largest international airport in the UK and Europe by the number of passengers carried annually - 75.7 million (data for 2016).
We remind you that the current case of cancelling flights due to fire is not the first in Britain. For example, in 2018, almost 100 flights of Ryanair and EasyJet were cancelled due to a fire emergency near one of the terminals of Stansted airport.
