Russians Running Out Of Their Most Popular Type Of Weapon

Stockpiles are running low.

In the strategy of the war that Russia is waging against Ukraine, the problem may arise not only in the lack of personnel, but in the stockpiles of equipment, in particular tanks and armored vehicles. OSINT researcher Richard Vereker writes that the Russian occupiers are probably running out of T-72 tanks, which previously formed the basis of the tank fleet of the Russian Armed Forces.

“Russian tank losses show an unusual pattern,” he wrote in his blog on the X platform.

The analyst noted that in recent months, Russian T-72 losses have begun to decline rapidly and by March had fallen to almost zero.

According to his data, two-thirds of Russian tank losses are now T-80s, which ceased to be mass-produced in 1996.

Another quarter of losses are T-62s, which were produced until 1975. And only in third place in terms of the number of losses is the newest tank used in combat, the T-90.

Verecker wonders where the Russian T-72s disappeared from the lists of lost equipment of the occupiers.

He draws attention to the fact that T-72 tanks that were removed from storage and modernized vehicles are no longer sent to the front in significant quantities.
