Lukashenka May Give The Green Light To Russians

On the Dangers of Putin and Trump Growing Closer.

One of the risks of Trump’s rapprochement with Putin is that, under new circumstances, Lukashenka may reconsider his previous stance of keeping Belarus out of the Russia-Ukraine war.

Initially, seeing the sanctions imposed on Russia and the marginalization of the Russian president, Lukashenka thought, "Not me! I need to stay away from this situation." But now, witnessing Trump restoring Putin’s status as a respectable politician, Lukashenka may decide that the game is not as risky as it once seemed.

I don’t think it will go as far as direct involvement of the Belarusian army in the war, but Lukashenko might well give Russians the green light to use Belarusian territory.
