BILD: Hackers Obtain Putin's DNA

He has something in common with Hitler.

Hackers have hacked into the computer of Mikhail Putin, the great-nephew of the Russian president. DNA analysis done by Genotek in 2023 turned up to be in the computer. Taking into account the degree of kinship, the genetic similarity between the nephew and his uncle is 6.5 per cent (Vladimir Putin's grandparents are Mikhail Putin's great-grandparents), BILD reports.

Thus, the hackers obtained part of the Kremlin chief's genetic code.

The DNA analysis shows that Mikhail Putin belongs to the E-V13 haplogroup, which is rare in Russia, on the paternal line (i.e., Vladimir Putin also belongs to it). This genetic lineage originates in modern Kosovo, where 30 per cent of people have this haplogroup; in Russia, it is less than 5 per cent.

In 2010, Britain's Daily Mail reported that Adolf Hitler was also a carrier of the rare E-V13 haplogroup (also known as E1b1b). ‘Maybe that's why Putin is so secretive about his origin?’ joked the publication's columnist Julian Repke.

Genotek also checked Mikhail Putin's genome for risks and diseases, and found some of them.

One of them is an increased risk of prostate cancer.
