Lukashenka's Sanatorium In Sochi Getting Sued

The sanatorium does not pay its bills.

A subsidiary of Lukashenka's Administrative Department, the Belarus sanatorium in Sochi, was last year a defendant in Russian courts due to non-payment for heating and problems with electricity metering, Zerkalo writes.

What is (not) known about the court battles over heating

Last year, the Belarus sanatorium in Sochi fought off two lawsuits in parallel — from Sochiteploenergo and KSK. In the first case, the reason was underpayment for heating over 12 years. The case was opened in February 2024, but there is still no decision on it: the dispute was postponed time after time. It was probably considered on March 20, but the decision has not yet been published.

Another case (but this time due to electricity debts)

In May of last year, the Arbitration Court of the Krasnodar Territory began to consider another case against the sanatorium. The application was filed by the company KSK. It is noteworthy that in the court documents the name of the company is indicated as KSK, and the registration number is written differently— “TNS Energo Kuban”. The latter is also indicated as an interested party in the case.

The essence of the claim is the debt for electricity. Thus, from November 25, 2021 to September 29, 2022, the sanatorium underpaid 379,176 Russian rubles. This is 13.8 thousand rubles at the National Bank exchange rate today. The electricity supplier also charged a penalty for late payment, but its amount is not indicated in the court documents.

The case dragged on until February of this year, when KSK decided to abandon the claims and the court accepted this. That is, they stopped “knocking out” the above amount from the subsidiary of Lukashenka's Administrative Department. Perhaps this happened after the sanatorium voluntarily paid the debt.

The Belarus Health Resort had previously ended up in Russian courts as a defendant. For example, before Russian contractors. One of such lawsuits was for $1.2 million.
